Abstract
The article is dedicated to justifying the feasibility of developing visual educational material using virtual reality for teaching the discipline "Technology of Underground Development of Mineral Deposits." It elaborates on the origins of virtual reality, argues the distinctions of virtual reality. It characterizes global experimental studies on the use of virtual reality in modern educational processes and their results. A critical analysis of the application of virtual reality in modern educational processes is conducted. A methodology for assessing the level of professional competence is developed. The practical value of the results lies in improving the quality of higher education through the development of cognitive skills of future specialists, gaining theoretical and practical experience in the specialty, and expanding the informational environment for cognitive and educational activities.
