Research of the mechanism of gas hydrates dissociation

Kateryna Sai1*, Mykhailo Petlovanyi1

Abstract

The research is aimed at revealing the theoretical features of the kinetics of the process of gas hydrates dissociation. The process of gas hydrates decomposition is considered as a heterogeneous process that takes place at the interface and contains three successive stages. The speed at which molecules oscillate around fixed positions and the speed of their translational motion in the gas-rock medium system are mathematically substantiated. A mathematical expression of the constant molecular diffusion coefficient is compiled. It is established that during the extraction of gas from gas hydrates there are external and internal areas of diffusion, as well as diffusion inhibition, which is the reason for increasing the dissociation time of gas hydrate into gas and water. The character of the dependence of the change of the dissociation rate at its different periods is revealed.

Keywords: gas hydrate, phase change, dissociation, kinetics, phase contact area
