Designing new constructions of filter respirators: challenges and perspectives

Serhii Cheberiachko1, Olena Yavorska1*, Andrii Yavorskyi1, Maksym Ikonnikov 1

Abstract

The paper analyzes the available scientific and practical experience as well as trends of new designs of filter respirators. Basing on the analysis of scientific works in this area of research, it should be noted that it is quite difficult to implement an individual approach to the design and manufacture of each respirator and its current production at a particular enterprise. Thus, the article proposes to represent the movement of dust aerosol near the half-mask by two streams, one of which enters the filter box with a filter and can be described by three differential equations in the first-order partial derivatives with Euler variables, which with the flow continuity equation allow to obtain the relationship between the kinematic and geometric parameters of the filter and density of the dust flow. It is indicated that this equation does not take into account the penetration of the aerosol through the gaps, which requires the search for further solutions; that will be covered in the future authors’ studies.
